Motor Vehicle Property Tax
The Tax
Assessment date is October 1st. Any Person
owning property on that date is liable for the
taxes due the Town of Branford
The Connecticut
Motor Vehicle Department has submitted to this
office your name as having registered motor
vehicle(s) in Branford. In order to make any
adjustments to the Grand List you need to
provide the following to the Office of the
Assessor:
1.
PLATE
RECEIPT
from the CT-DMV indicating that the
registration has been CANCELLED, LOST or
STOLEN.
2.
Any of
the following in ADDITION TO # 1

A
copy of the bill of sale - (located on the
bottom of the registration).

A
copy of the transfer of title - (signed).

Out
of State registration - (date the vehicle
was registered outside the State of
Connecticut).

Stolen Vehicle – A statement from the
insurance company indicating that the
vehicle was stolen &
NOT RECOVERED.

Totaled Vehicle – A statement from the
insurance company indicating that the
vehicle was a TOTAL LOSS.

Junked Vehicle – A receipt from the
junkyard.

Trade-in Vehicle – A copy of a purchase
agreement.

Donation Letter – A copy of letter of
donation.
NOTE:
All information must be DATED and the
VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER must be
on all documentation. Forward to the
