Auto Theft Is On The Rise And Continues to Plague Community

Auto Theft has been on the rise in our community. In the past year, over 50 vehicles have been reported stolen, primarily during the overnight hours. In many instances, the vehicles have been unlocked and many had keys left somewhere in the vehicle.

Please remember to lock your car and don's leave keys inside.  During the winter months, don't leave your car warming up unattended.

Thefts From Cars In Neighborhoods and Town Parks

There have been over 125 reported thefts of valuables from automobiles parked in neighborhoods over the past year.  Mostly from vehicles that have been UNLOCKED.

In addition, annually, as the nicer weather has approaches, vehicles parked at Branford Supply Pond, Youngs Pond and other Town parks, will be broken into and valuables taken that are left VISIBLY in the car.
