A printed schedule of activities & special events is available at the Center, Town Hall, Libraries, and Senior Housing locations. To receive our monthly Upcoming Events via email please email Wendy at  wventura@branford-ct.gov and request to be added to our email list, or view it on the Town's website under (Canoe Brook News).  If you are homebound and would like the schedule of Upcoming Events mailed to you please call Wendy at 315-0687. Please stop by and join, its only $8.00 a year-- what a deal-- we look forward to meeting you!

Membership:

Branford residents age 60+ are eligible to apply for membership. (Members must be independent and oriented.)

Dues are $ 8 per year. Guests and non-residents are welcome to accompany a member to an activity or on a trip as

space permits. Stop by the Front Office today and activate your membership, we look forward to meeting you!

Bus Transportation: Available daily to Canoe Brook Center for lunch, activities, and trips. Call the transportation office at 315-0681 a day in advance to reserve a ride to the Center. There is no charge to use our transportation services, however donations are accepted. For weekend, evening, or wheelchair transportation please call Greater New Haven Transit District at 288-6282 or click here for more info on the MyRide transportation services.

 

Medical Appointments: Available for Branford residents to appointments in Branford, Guilford, New Haven, and the VA. Appointment times must be between 8:45 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.  A five day advance notice of appointments is requested; however many days we are filled to capacity so the sooner you reserve your ride the more likely it is we can accommodate your request.

 

Grocery Shopping:    Tuesday, 8:30 a.m. Stop and Shop for Stony Creek and central Branford.

                                        Tuesday,11:30 a.m. Big Y for Branford, Short Beach & Branford Hills.

Thursday, 8:30 a.m. Mini-trips to local malls and/or department stores; call for schedule.

Friday, 8:30 a.m. Stop and Shop for Stony Creek and central Branford.

Friday, 11:30 a.m. Big Y for Branford, Short Beach & Branford Hills. 

Social Services:

Assistance with Energy Assistance, Operation Fuel, Renter's Rebate, Housing, ConnPace, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps, tax relief, and consumer protection issues is available. Activities:

Canoe Brook offers a full complement of social, educational, recreational, and cultural programs designed for today's Senior. Pre-registration is required for all activities and classes.  Meals:

Senior Cafe: Lunch is served at noon Monday-Thursday for a suggested donation of $ 2.00 (donation is requested at time of reservation.) Transportation is available. Menus are posted at the Center. To make a reservation call 315-0685 no later than 12:30 pm the day before you would like to come.  Cafe hours are Monday - Thursday 10am -1:00 pm.   Click here for the: Monthly Menu.

 

Meals on Wheels: Managed by the Area Agency on Aging home delivered meals are available to homebound Seniors.

To apply for home delivered meals please call the Meals on Wheels program directly at 387-7700. For information on other meal options please call Assistant Director Marlowe Ioime at 315-0682.

 

 Legal Consultation: Attorney Steve Errante is available for legal clarification and referral as needed.  Contact Wendy at 315-0687 to

          schedule an appointment.
