Covid-19 Procedure for Services

Update November 18, 2021:  COVID-19 availability of services from The Town Clerk's Office:

Town Hall is completely open for in-person service assistance 8:30 to 4:30 Monday through Friday. We continue to encourage use of hand sanitizer stations and face covering/masks while in the building. Funeral Directors:

To file death certificates:  In-Person or by mail to PO Box 150 Branford CT 06405.  Mail-in requests for certified copies will be fulfilled within 24 to 48 hours of receipt of the request.  Please provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope for mailing.

Getting Married?

Marriage licenses for couples being married in Branford are processed by appointment after the marriage license worksheet is completed and emailed to TLane@branford-ct.gov.  Click here for a list of Justices of the Peace (marriage officiants.)  Call (203) 315-0678 for further instructions.

Land Records Online searches & How-to instructions for first-time online users.  Recordings for the general public, attorneys, submitters,  lenders and servicers may be made in-person 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or you may mail recordings to PO Box 150, Branford, CT  06405. For in-person records searches for records prior to 1991 please call (203) 315-0678 for an appointment.

Shellfish Permits

Free for Seniors 65 and over Handled in-person, or email/mail a photo of your driver’s license with current address and we will mail your new permit promptly. All permits expire on 12/31.

For Branford residents ages 16-64:  In-Person or mail a $5.00 check payable to “Branford Town Clerk” with a copy of your driver’s license and a self-addressed envelope for permit to be mailed.

Fishing and Hunting Licenses:   No longer available at the Town Clerk’s office as of June, 2019.  Renew online through the State portal.

Trade Name Certificates:  Deliver in-person or mail completed/notarized form with $10 check for recording fee.  If you require a certified copy to be returned, include a self-addressed, stamped envelope and an additional $3.

Liquor Permits:  Copies of permits are filed in-person in the town clerk's office.  The fee is $20.00 by cash or check payable to "Branford Town Clerk."

Notary Public:  Record your notary public commission in-person during regular office hours.  If you need notary public services, please call (203) 315-0633 for an appointment.

Dog Licenses:  All dog owners have been mailed a dog licensing renewal reminder, including a self-addressed remittance envelope for your mailing or drop box renewal convenience.  Current licenses are valid through July 1st.  New licensing begins June 1st.  Complete this form and follow Special COVID-19 instructions or call for further instructions on licensing a new dog.  You may also license in-person at Town Hall during office hours.  Please show a current rabies vaccination certificate.
