Tax Deferral Program Extended

Tax Deferral Program Extended
The Town of Branford is pleased to announce the continuation of the tax deferment program adopted earlier this year to assist eligible taxpayers that have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pursuant to Governor Lamont’s Executive Order 9R, municipalities have the authority to continue to offer the same tax relief program(s) as previously adopted by the town. Earlier this year, the Town of Branford approved a tax deferral program extending the grace period for the July installment for an additional 90 days and will continue to offer the same option for those eligible taxpayers impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic for the tax bills due January 1, 2021.

This deferment program applies to real estate, personal property and supplemental motor vehicle tax bills. Taxpayers have until April 1, 2021 to pay their taxes without interest. Taxes paid after April 1, 2021 will be subject to interest at a rate of 1 ½ % per month retroactive to January 1, 2021.
