Clean Energy ad hoc Committee

MISSION OF THE CLEAN ENERGY AD HOC COMMITTEE:  IN ORDER TO IMPROVE PUBLIC HEALTH AND LOWER ENERGY COSTS FOR THE TOWN AND ITS RESIDENTS, THE BRANFORD CLEAN ENERGY AD HOC COMMITTEE WORKS TO MEET OR EXCEED THE STATE’S GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSION REDUCTION TARGETS BY INCREASING BOTH ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND THE USE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY:

In 2018, the State of Connecticut set a goal of producing 40% of its electric power through renewables by 2030, rising to 100% by 2040 and of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 80% below 2001 levels by 2050 (2018 CT DEEP Comprehensive Energy Strategy).

The Branford Clean Energy Ad Hoc Committee prepared this draft Energy Plan, passed by the Board of Selectman in July 2020, to achieve these goals for Branford by helping to guide the town toward greater energy efficiency and sustainability. Energy is one of the largest expenditures for our residents and businesses. Carrying out this plan will yield many benefits, which include saving money and improving public health.

Committee members are currently working on the energy efficiency of buildings, eventual conversion of the Town’s vehicle fleet to electric vehicles and promoting charging stations in new and renovated developments. Current Campaigns:
