COVID-19 Permit Application Policy

In an effort to continue to serve the Town of Branford’s residents and businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, all building permit applications are temporarily accepted by e-mail or received in person at the land-use service counter located on the second floor of town hall. Please observe all latest social distance guidelines posted when entering the building. All required documents are made available either from the Town of Branford website at www.branford-ct.gov or accessed in person by visiting the Building department located on the second floor of town hall. We encourage you to contact us by e-mail: building@branford-ct.gov  with any questions you may have regarding your submittal. All appointments with the building official are to be scheduled in advance please call the office 203-315-0674 and speak with staffing.

All applications received by e-mail will continue to be processed as normal and you will be contacted by staffing by e-mail or phone to discuss your application. You will also be provided with a fee payment amount associated with your application to be processed by staffing. Credit card payments will only be accepted utilizing our new on-line payment portal located on the Building Department website at www.branford-ct.gov payments may also be mailed or dropped off in person with checks made payable to the Town of Branford.

We will continue to expedite those applications which do not require review by multiple departments and those applications which do require review by multiple departments will continue to be processed within the 30 day review period per CGS 29-263. Please remember applications which require multiple department reviews may require additional applications/forms from such departments to be submitted along with your building permit application. Completed applications, forms and supporting documentation can be e-mailed to building@branford-ct.gov

In order for this temporary process to be successful we ask you to carefully and legibly provide all information required of your particular permit application including a phone number and e-mail (if available) so we may properly contact you. Incomplete applications may be delayed or rejected.
